Pet Friendly accommodation for Dogs and Horses
Forest Cottages are pet friendly and we welcome
well behaved dogs in the cottages but not in Forest
Lodge or in the kennels within the grounds. Kennels and stabling is available on a DIY
basis but all animals are supervised by the proprietor,
Michelle, a qualified Veterinary surgeon of over 20 years experience. All
animals remain the responsibility of their owners at all
times. Liability is not assumed in any way whatsoever by
the proprietors.
Pet Friendly Cottages
We
are delighted to welcome up to 2 dogs (depending on the breed)
in each cottage if arranged at the time of
booking. To keep the
cottages in the excellent condition you would expect to
find there are a few conditions specified below.
Alternatively dogs can be comfortably housed in our
converted stalls. We regret that dogs are not allowed in
Forest Lodge.
We regret we can not accept cats in our cottages.
Flea treatment is essential for all pets staying at our
cottages and these cost as little as £5.
The following conditions apply for dogs staying in
cottages:
We hope our guests will understand the need to detail
our pet conditions and we appreciate that most owners
will already be following these at their own homes, so
please don't be offended.
• Dogs must have been treated for fleas and wormed
within 4 weeks of arrival, Flea products must be of veterinarian quality
eg Frontline, Advantage, Stronghold (supermarket
treatments are not acceptable)
Proof of this (eg certificates/packaging/dated receipts)
will be asked for on arrival. Most veterinary practices
will administer flea products and wormers at cost price.
Frontline is also available from Boots. Untreated
dogs must either stay in the kennels or Michelle can
purchase and administer the relevant treatments.
It is advisable that your pets are up to date with their
vaccinations.
•Dogs must be over 9 -12 months of age (depending on
breed) and neutered, bitches must not be in season
during your stay.
• We ask owners to please pick up after their pet and
place dog bags
in the bin just inside the stable block.
• Dogs must be kept on leads in the communal gardens as
we have free ranging chickens and often other animals
nearby.
• Dogs are welcome in the cottages downstairs but please
do not allow them upstairs or on beds or furniture.
• Please bring your dog's own bed, blankets, and feed bowls.
Some old towels are a good idea to clean and dry them
after walks. Please don't use ours!
• Dogs must not be left alone in the cottages at any
time. If you wish to go out without your pet the kennels
are available free of charge. If dogs are found to have
been left alone they will be removed to the kennels.
• A cleaning charge is applicable to cottages with dogs and
owners are liable for all damage caused by dogs. We reserve the right to levy a charge for any extra
cleaning or repair required.
Kennels

For pets staying in kennels bowls and beds are provided but there is plenty of room
for your pets' favourite items. Specific food can be
obtained in advance if requested at booking.
Kennelling is on a DIY basis.
Dogs over 1 year old and neutered are allowed in cottages.
As
kennels are located in our courtyard close to the
accommodation they should not be regarded as boarding
kennels. Dogs must be able
to settle down within 20 minutes of being left but if
they do not then they must be removed from the kennels and can
either stay in our animal shelter in the
paddock or in guest's vehicles.
If
requested in advance we may be able to offer day care
should you wish to go out for the day without your pets.
Please make sure that your pets are up to date with
their vaccinations and have been wormed within 1 month
of arrival.
As there are often sheep in surrounding fields and free
ranging chickens we ask for dogs to be on
leads in the main gardens.
Horses
We offer DIY livery for horses in three large
internal stables and there is also a smaller stall
suitable for a pony. Shavings can be provided for
bedding. There are 2 separate paddocks of 1.25
acre and 0.5 acre which may be used, ground conditions
permitting.
Please make sure that your horse is up to date with its
vaccinations and has been wormed recently.
